Mroza Buthelezi – UKHOZIFM

She trusts her family, her son, her four younger brothers and her parents.

Nonhlanhla Rhodesia Buthelezi, better known as Mroza, was born in a small village in northern KwaZulu-Natal. She started her early education at Dokodweni Primary School, then joined Amatikulu Secondary School and completed her education at Vukile High School in Maphumulo. In 1995, she attended the Education College of South Africa (CESA) with a Diploma in Teaching.

She faced challenges when many educators were laid off, she was involved in community projects and at one stage she was a volunteer educator at one of the schools. She has always loved helping young people – she founded a youth group called Dokodweni Coastal Development. She founded the group to get rid of crime and keep young people off the streets. She had always dreamed of being on radio, but never thought she would make it because there weren’t many opportunities in her village and her area.

The youth group was a stepping stone to her dream, and because her work impressed the authorities in her area, she was invited by a love life organization to watch events (theatre, music, dance, etc.). Love Life hired her as a trailblazer (young dynamic people working with their peers), where she joined Love Life Tours (broadcast unit/mobile studio) to spread positive messages in schools across the province. Her experience landed her a job in June 2000 at a community radio station called Icora FM in Eshowe.

She hosts the Drive Home Show Monday to Friday from 15:00-18:00. She stretched her muscles and worked on the radio station’s promotions until she became the station’s marketing manager. In August 2004, she moved to SABC radio station, Ukhozi FM, while she was busy improving her skills by attending radio training.

Her future goals revolve around the media and marketing industry. She is willing to launch a TV talk show for those who have achieved something and are willing to develop the minds of others through personal experience. She also wants to have her own youth clothing brand and expand her horizons on radio.

She trusts her family, her son, her four younger brothers and her parents.
