10-year-old violin prodigy stuns Opry with flawless performance of ‘Blue Moon in Kentucky’

Grand Ole Opry

Carson Peters was playing the violin while other kids his age played Hot Wheels. By the age of 4, Peters was competing in violin competitions and playing at music festivals. In the years since, Carson has continued to hone his violin skills and has had the opportunity to achieve the goals many have been waiting for in life.

In addition to appearing on national television, such as Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, Peters also made his Grand Old Opry debut. He was only 10 years old when he was invited by bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs to perform at Opry with him and his band Kentucky Thunder.

Carson Peters’ appearance at Opry and his flawless rendition of Bill Monroe’s classic “Blue Moon in Kentucky” has become one of Opry’s most talked-about performances in recent years. Not only was Carson talented, he was also humble… a trait that made him beloved by bluegrass fans across the country.

“It’s all about using my God-given talent to make people smile,” Carson said.

Carson Peters, now 12, lives in Pine Flats, Tennessee, with his parents, Jamie and Robin.
