NBC hype Biden DOJ push to rig Texas election map for Democrats
Tuesday, NBC today The show caught the Biden Justice Department trying to bully Texas into changing its electoral map to benefit Democrats. The heavily skewed section amounts to a string of left-wing grievances attacking the Republican-controlled state and accusing it of racist redistricting.
“Also this morning, a fight over voting rights is intensifying. The Justice Department is now suing the state of Texas over its new redistricting plan, saying it will discriminate against minority voters,” Co-host Savannah Guthrie announced breathlessly just minutes into the morning show. Correspondent Morgan Chesky, who serves as a spokesperson for the Department of Justice, provided this press release:
At its core, the Justice Department said, minority voters in Texas and the rapidly changing demographics here are underrepresented. The lawsuit has two claims. First, Texas Republicans are doing this deliberately to suppress minority votes. Second, the impact is still discriminatory, even if not intentional, and the Justice Department could win on any of those claims.
In a subsequent taped report, Chesky hyped “A Texas-Scale Battle for Voting Maps” And the Justice Department’s racist cries: “The lawsuit alleges that the state’s new maps violate the Voting Rights Act because they discriminate against voters in the state’s burgeoning Latino and black populations.“
The reporter read at least briefly a tweet from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, “calling the lawsuit ‘ridiculous,’ adding that he ‘believes our Legislature’s decision to redistrict will be Justify it, and this ridiculous attempt to influence democracy will fail.’”
However, all other voice clips in this article are from Democrats. A clip from Biden’s attorney Merrick Garland, another clip from U.S. Attorney General Vanita Gupta, and a final clip from Texas Democratic Representative Ramon Ramiro, all working on the proposal weeping over the Republican redistricting plan.
Between these voices, Chesky was indistinguishable from the Liberals:
The state gained two more congressional seats after the 2020 census without drawing a new district with a majority of black or Hispanic voters. Instead, the two new seats have a white majority…This fall, Gov. Greg Abbott signed new redistricting into law, paving a safer path for the Republican majority to stay in power…It’s part of a nationwide wave of redrawing the map of voting, many controlled by Republican lawmakers, that could affect next year’s midterm elections and elections for years to come.
Chesky ends the story by mimicking the demands of a radical Biden administration: “Now, the Justice Department is asking the court to bar Texas from conducting elections under these challenged plans, and they’re asking the court to ensure that these maps are redrawn.”
Texas has long been a favorite target for left-wing media, especially NBC. In July, broadcast networks cheered state Democrats as they actively sought to subvert democracy. In November, NBC actually boasted that it helped spark a separate civil rights investigation by the Justice Department into the South Lakes school district in Texas for not adopting aggressive critical race theory.
Kia and Dick’s Sporting Goods brought viewers on NBC’s Tuesday Justice Department pitch. You can fight back by letting these advertisers know what you think about them sponsoring this type of content.

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE: Also this morning, a fight over voting rights is intensifying. The Justice Department is now suing Texas over its new redistricting plan, saying it would discriminate against minority voters. NBC’s Morgan Chesky tells the story with us from Dallas. Morgan, good morning.
Morgan Chesky: Hey Savannah, good morning.
[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Texas Voting Maps Controversy]
A battle for a Texas-sized voting map this morning. On Monday, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit challenging the Texas Republican’s plan to redefine Congress and state legislative districts. The lawsuit alleges that the state’s new maps violate the Voting Rights Act because they discriminate against voters in the state’s burgeoning Latino and black populations.
Merrick Wreath [U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL]: As the Supreme Court has observed, a core tenet of our democracy is, to quote, “voters should choose their representatives, not the other way around.”
Chesky: Attorney General for the state [Ken Paxton] Hit back on Twitter, calling the lawsuit “ridiculous” and adding that he “believes that our Legislature’s decision to redistrict will be justified and that this ridiculous attempt to influence democracy will fail.”
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Texas’ population has grown by 4 million over the past decade, with 95 percent of that growth coming from the black, Latino and Asian population. The state gained two more congressional seats after the 2020 census, but did not draw a new district with a majority of black or Hispanic voters. Instead, the two new seats have a white majority.
Vanita Gupta [U.S. ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY GENERAL]: The newly enacted redistricting plan will not allow minority voters an equal opportunity to elect representatives of their choice.
CHESSKY: This fall, Gov. Greg Abbott signed new redistricting into law, paving a safer path for the Republican majority to stay in power. Rep. Ramone Ramiro, a Democrat, said the new map hit his own area around Fort Worth hard.
Once you see the new area, how does it affect you?
State Rep.Ramon Ramiro [D-TX]: I went from 50% Latino surname voter registration to 38% Latino surname voter registration.
Chesky: It’s part of a nationwide wave of redrawing the map of voting, many of which are controlled by Republican lawmakers, that could affect next year’s midterm elections and elections for years to come.
Now, the Justice Department is asking the court to bar Texas from conducting elections under these challenged plans, and they’re asking the court to ensure the maps are redrawn. Savannah?
GUTHRIE: Okay, Morgan Chesky, thanks.
